Avondale Announces Juneteenth Holiday Closures 

City of Avondale administrative offices and facilities, the Sam Garcia and Civic Center libraries, as well as the Arizona Complete Health Avondale Resource Center, will be closed in observance of Juneteenth, which falls on Monday, June 19, 2023.

WeRIDE microtransit service will not operate on this day. Valley Metro bus and Zoom circulator will be operating on a regular schedule along with all RAPID/Express bus services. Valley Metro Customer Service will be open.

Avondale Public Works will pick up trash and recycling according to the normal schedules, as there will be no changes in solid waste schedules for this holiday.  For information about bulk trash zones and solid waste collection schedules in Avondale, please visit www.avondaleaz.gov/publicworks  or contact the City of Avondale at 623-333-4400.

To recognize the significance of Juneteenth, on Thursday, June 15 from 5-8 p.m., the Avondale Parks and Recreation Department will host a Juneteenth Freedom Event at the Arizona Complete Health Avondale Resource Center (995 E Riley Drive, Avondale, AZ 85323).  All are invited to attend. For more information, please visit www.avondaleaz.gov/events.
