Juneteenth Celebration at Civic Center Library (All ages)

Freedom Day

Acknowledge, Educate, and Celebrate! Celebrate Juneteenth with the City of Avondale and Avondale Public Library! 

Activities on the City Hall campus (11465 W Civic Center Dr, Avondale, AZ 85323) will include live music and dance performances, crafts, soul food, fashion, and educational activities. Learn more about the City of Avondale Juneteenth event.

Activities at the Avondale Civic Center Library will include a storytime, crafts, bingo, and a special presentation from Dr. Tamika Sanders on Coded Messages and Songs of the Underground Railroad.  Learn how Freedom Fighters communicated secret messages to each other using symbols and other imagery.  Dr. Sanders presentation will begin at 7:15 p.m.
