Avondale Observes Juneteenth Holiday | News Releases | City of Avondale
Several city facilities and services will be closed on Thursday, June 19, 2025, in observance of Juneteenth, which is a recognized holiday in the City of Avondale.
City of Avondale administrative offices, the Civic Center Library, Sam Garcia Library, and Mountain View Community Center will be closed. Meanwhile, the Arizona Complete Health Avondale Resource Center will not be in operation that day, EXCEPT to provide Heat Relief, during the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
However, Avondale Park amenities and the Avondale Aquatic Center will be open for enjoyment (for details, visit www.AvondaleAz.Gov/Pool).
WeRIDE microtransit service will not operate on this day. Valley Metro bus will be operating on a regular schedule along with all RAPID/Express bus services.
Avondale Public Works will pick up trash and recycling according to the normal schedules, as there will be no changes in solid waste schedules for this holiday. The City of Avondale will also honor the occasion with a Juneteenth Freedom Event hosted the Saturday prior, on June 14, 2025 at the Avondale Civic Center Complex (11465 W Civic Center Drive, Avondale, AZ 85323). All are invited to attend the event, which runs from 6 to 9 p.m.
