Avondale Celebrates July 4 Holiday
As Independence Day approaches, the City of Avondale is preparing to honor the occasion. Several city facilities and services will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2025.
City administrative offices, which are usually closed on Fridays, as well as the Civic Center Campus, Civic Center Library, Sam Garcia Library, and Mountain View Community Center will all be closed. However, the Arizona Complete Health Avondale Resource Center will be open that day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. specifically to provide heat relief.
Avondale Park amenities and the new Avondale Aquatic Center will be open for enjoyment. (For more details, visit www.AvondaleAz.Gov/Pool .) Please note that the use of fireworks is prohibited in all city facilities and parks.
Avondale Public Works will continue to pick up trash and recycling according to their normal schedules, with no changes for this holiday. For information about bulk trash zones and solid waste collection schedules in Avondale, please visit www.AvondaleAz.gov/PublicWorks or call (623) 333-4400.
Transit services will operate on a Sunday schedule, and the WeRIDE microtransit and Express bus services will not be available.
The City will host a fireworks event at Phoenix Raceway. The "Light Up the Sky Independence Day Celebration" will take place on July 4, 2025. This event will feature a kid zone, food, and a fireworks display. The raceway is located at 7602 Jimmie Johnson Dr., Avondale, AZ 85323. The event starts at 6 p.m. and concludes after a 25-minute fireworks show that begins at 8:25 p.m. General admission is free. For more information, visit www.AvondaleAz.Gov/Events .
Residents are reminded to observe the rules and regulations regarding the use of consumer fireworks within city limits. The illegal use of fireworks will not be tolerated, and aerial fireworks are not permitted. Local public safety officials advise leaving fireworks to the professionals, as they can cause severe burns, fractures, scars, lifetime disfigurements, or even death. The use of consumer fireworks is allowed in Avondale only from June 24 to July 6.
