Avondale 2018 January Holiday Closures

During the month of January, the following changes in City of Avondale operations will take place in observance of New Year’s Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

All city of Avondale offices, libraries, resource and community centers will be closed in observance of New Year’s, Monday, January 1, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day Monday, January 15.  The ZOOM Circulator bus will also not be in service on those dates.

With the observance of both holidays on a Monday, the Avondale City Council will instead meet on Tuesday, January 2 and Tuesday, January 16 at 7  p.m. in the Avondale Council Chambers, 11465 W Civic Center Drive.

The Public Works Department will follow a modified holiday trash and recycling pick up schedule during holiday weeks. There will be no trash and recycling collections on the observed holidays. Trash service will take place one day later after the holiday for these two scheduled holiday weeks.  Those households who receive Friday service will be serviced on Saturday instead.  Containers must be placed at curbside no later than 5 a.m. on the day of collection.
